Results of 3rd Hanoi Asian Indoor Games

You can get the results of the 3rd Hanoi Asian Indoor Games at the ADSF website at . http://www.adsf.org/

The enclosed pictures are supplied by Etienne and Zenny a husband and wife Team.. Etienne used to partner Kathy and they were the top Latin American couple representing Vietnam. They were very active participating in the Asian circuit. The partnership broke up when Etienne married Zenny.

Of the 10 events both in Standard and Latin, Vietnam managed to get into the finals in 9 events. The even mananged to beat traditional power house like China, Japan , Korea and Khazakstan to take Gold in Jive and Rumba. Before you fly off the handle accusing that there may be unfair judging, I want to assure you that the judges selected are all from European countries and there are no Asian judges.

When the Games are held in their country, the home team have the addded advantage of the home support. Further Vietnam Dancesport Association did fly in top coaches to train their Team and they were preparing them even before the official announcement that Vietnam will be hosting the 3rd Asian Indoor Games.

OCM couples did not make it into the finals unfortunately, but whatever Malaysia was represented at the 3rd Asian Indoor Games.

In November 2010 is the Guangzhou Asian Games. This is the first time Dancesport will be featured in the Asian Games and I can assure you that China will be ready to take on Asia.

No OCM couples in finals after all the hooha as highlighted by Skydancer. Going by the results and in retrospect, where are the other Malaysian couples who could have done better? Thought one or two of those missing the action in Hanoi could have even qualified for finals if adequate training and preparation were in place.

Danswer, I recall something to the effect that OCM treat this Games like the Asian Indoor as low priority. I believe they feel that such games are to give the young dancers an opportunity to represent the country.
Like telling Dato Lee Chong Wei to hold on and not go to the SEA Games so that the younger dancers are given a chance to participate.
Anyway Malaysia still have a long way to go.
That is not the point really, what happened to the athletes at the OCM trials, why were they not selected?
This is not the way to do it, if you have your trials use the trials as a bench mark to send the athletes to the Games. Anthony & Anita did not even attend the trials so did Alfred & Carmen, yet they were selected. Why?
Where is the bench mark for the OCM selection?
Blame it on MPDC for stamping and endorsing the entry forms for the athletes and officials. But then for the love of Dancesport they did it, but is this the way MPDC are going to act in the future? They are not even in OCM for starters.

Sounds like very disorganized and if the point was to give younger dancers a chance, why are we seeing only two couples in action? The places should be filled up instead of wasting them and come up with other excuses. Moreover based on results, you get one couple doing just a single dance in standard and another in latin. This is utter waste depriving another young couple of the chance to take part. What is so special about this couple?
